iREV-The Initiative for Resiliency in Energy through Vehicles

is a nation-wide effort to integrate alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) into emergency planning and response activities. Spearheaded by the National Association of State Energy Officials and in partnership with State Energy Offices, Clean Cities Coalitions, trade associations and other partners, iREV has developed a series of resources that can help emergency managers learn about AFVs and integrate them into planning activities. These include: case studies that examine how biodiesel, electric, natural gas, and propane vehicles have been used by communities during emergencies; an online tool that can help emergency managers visualize where alternative fuel vehicles and stations are located in their communities; and a memo identifying opportunities for alternative fuels to be integrated into future emergency operations plans and energy assurance plans.
