Eastern Pennsylvania Academic Clean Drive Initiative

The Eastern Pennsylvania Academic Clean Drive Initiative (EPACDI) is a three-year alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) related partnership between the Eastern Pennsylvania Alliance for Clean Transportation (EP-ACT) and a coalition of universities located within eastern Pennsylvania.  The initiative will also include private partners in the region.

The mission of the Eastern Pennsylvania Academic Clean Drive Initiative is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions occurring at these colleges/universities while establishing the schools and the entire city as leaders in pollution reduction and clean-drive technology adoption.

Electric vehicle adoption

  •     Install electric vehicle charging infrastructure in college/university parking areas
  •     Purchase plug-in electric vehicles for use by universities
  •     Partner with car sharing companies to provide electric vehicles for use by students


Fleet emissions reduction

  •     Install alternative fuel supply infrastructure at college/university facilities
  •     Convert to or purchase alternative fuel vehicles to replace gasoline-powered vehicles
  •     Host educational events for vehicle operators about fuel-efficient habits


Outreach, Education, Engagement

  •     Host tire-pressure outreach events in student parking lots
  •     Host ride-and-drive events with alternative fuel vehicles
  •     Table and distribute information at college/university events
